Arts

Arts & Crafts -Mrs. Michaels Class Full

  • Ages: 4-7
  • Min. # Students: 4 -Max. # Students: 12
  • Student Supply Fee: None & Teacher Supply Fee: $16 -The supply fee will be used to purchase all necessary supplies used throughout the entire year that willl be used for our various projects.
  • Tuition: $16 per month
  • Students will supply their own smock.
  • A fun class where young students can get acquainted with painting and drawing and a variety of art supplies.  Students will create a fun project each week to take home.

Discovery Art -Mrs. Michaels Class Full

  • Ages: 7 - 10
  • Min. # Students: 4 -Max. # Students: 12
  • Student Supply Fee: $20 for one sketch pad, watercolor paper pad, one drawing pencil, one artist's eraser, one sharpener, and one set of 8 color Prang watercolor paints.
  • Students will supply your own painting smock or old shirt.
  • Tuition: $19 per month
  • This is a fun class for beginner level students between 7 and 10 years of age.  This class replaces the former "Beginning Drawing and Painting" with a new format.  Students will learn techniques that will improve their skills dramatically in both drawing and watercolor painting.  The new format will have students drawing and painting throught the entire year with a focus on different subject matter.  Students will begin with a unit on animals.  Students will also have a unit on landscapes and portraits.

Intermediate Art -Mrs. Michaels

  • Ages: 8 & up
  • Min. # Students: 4 -Max. # Students: 12
  • Student Supply Fee: $20 for acrylic paint, one sketch pad, one drawing pencil, one artist's white eraser, one sharpener and 4 canvas panels.  Parents can make a special arrangement if you prefer stretched canvas.
  • Students will supply your own painting smock or old shirt. 
  • Tuition: $19 per month
  • This class is for students who have completed Beginning Drawing & Painting (now called Discovery Art) or students who are between 8 and 12 years of age and have some previous art training.  This class will have a new format where students will be drawing and painting throughout the entire year.  Students will be building on skills and techniques learned in Beginning Drawing and Painting class.  Class will focus on different subject matter and projects will be more challenging.  Painting projects in this class will be completed with acrylic painting on canvas. 

Art Studio A & B -Mrs. Michaels

  • Ages: 9 - 12
  • Min. # Students: 4 -Max. # Students: 12
  • Student Supply Fee: $20 -Class fee will purchase your student the following: one sketch pad, one drawing pencil, one artist's white eraser, one sharpener, and four canvas panels.  Parents can make special arrangements with the teacher if they prefer students to paint on stretched canvas, which is a bit costlier.  Fee also covers the cost of acrylic paint provided by the teacher.
  • Please provide your own paint smock or old shirt. 
  • Tuition: $19 per month
  • An advanced class for students who have completed Intermediate Drawing & Painting, or have a mature level of interest in learning new art skills and have some previous training.  This class changes every year, so students from Art Studio last year are welcome to enroll again.  There will be no repeat projects from last year.  The format for this class has changed somewhat, with some new units added to the year.  Students will be doing both drawing and painting in this class.  There will be a unit on cartooning , as well as several weeks spent on traditional drawing techniques.  The class will once again include some art history and appreciation, although the artists we study will be new.  This year students will discover the works of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and will complete two projects while studying his techniques.  We will also spend several weeks discovering the works of Edward Hopper, an American artist who is well known for his painting "Nighthawks". 

Teen Art Studio -Mrs. Michaels

  • Ages: 13 & up
  • Min. # Students: 4 -Max. # Students: 12
  • Student Supply Fee: $25 -Class fee will purchase your student the following: one sketch pad, one drawing pencil, one artist's white eraser, one sharpener, and four canvas panels.  Parents can make special arrangements with the teacher if they prefer students to pain on stretched canvas, which is a bit costlier.  Fee also covers the cost of acrylic paint provided by the teacher.  Teacher will also provide the use of paint brushes: however, the students can bring their own.
  • Please provide your own paint smock or old shirt. 
  • Tuition: $24 per month
  • An advanced class for students ages 13 and up.  This class changes every year, so students from Teen Art Studio last year are welcome to enroll again.  There will be no repeat projects from last year.  The format for this class has changed somewhat, with some new units added to the year.  Students will be doing both drawing & painting in this class.  The class will once again include some art history & appreciation, although the artists we study will be new.  This year students will discover the works of two American artists, George Inness and Maxfield Parrish.  George Inness was a landscape artist who painted in a style that became known as tonalism, and Maxfield Parrish was a unique and popular painter who did many illustrations and has been referred to as the "Master of Make-believe".

Jewelry Making - Mrs. Lewis

  • Ages: 9 & up
  • Min. # Students: 3 - Max. # Students: 8
  • Student Supply Fee: $30
  • Tuition: $20 per month
  • Beginning and advanced students will be combined in this course. Students start with basic beading techniques, stringing styles, and clasps. Seed beading, ethnic and multi-strand will be covered. Students later learn to work with basic hand tools to make links and connections with wire. Students will make a final piece of their own design using the techniques they have learned.  Tools necessary are beads of the student's choosing, small lengths of string materials, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers, wire, and goggles.  Stringing material, some beads and other itmes will be available through the instructor in a kit at the start of classes.

3D Art - Mr. Guge Class Full at 11:00, but 2:00 has room.

Basic Design - Mr. Guge

  • Monthly Tuition: $18
  • This course gives students an opportunity to explore the elements and the principles of design that all artists need to know.  Introduction to various mediums and techniques that will enhance students in the understanding of the world of design and how it is integrated into life.  Mediums include:  drawing, painting, markers, and scratch boards with a focus on focal points, balance, and symmetry.  Biblical focus will be integrated.  The students will be exposed to the elements of design, principles of design and various styles of design.  Line design (creating a variety of textures and patterns with doodles, then incorporating them into a larger design), mosaics, and a variety of interesting projects will be explored to help your understanding of design come to life.  Due to a business obligation there will be no class on 12/8, 1/26, and 5/4, and so tuition has been lowered.

Wood Sculpting -Mr. Guge

Please note, this class is offered at Mr. Guge's studio, in Gilberts, IL.  Parents are welcome to leave the students for the 50 minute class.  

  • Ages 9 & up
  • Min. # Students: 8 - Max. # Students: 12
  • Student Supply Fee: $20 -There may be an additional $5 charge per sculpture.
  • Each student will provide a Dremel and proper eye protection. 
  • Tuition: $18 per month
  • Students will complete 3-dimentional wood sculptures from start to finish including design, drawing, wood carving, wood burning, and hand painting.  Students will need to purchase their own Dremel tool (approx. $25. Details available at orientation). The $20 Student Supply Fee includes wood and paint for 3 sculptures. If time allows for additional sculptures to be completed, there may be an additional $5 charge per sculpture.  Due to a business obligation there will be no class on 12/8, 1/26, and 5/4, and so tuition has been lowered.

  • Student will need: a camera preferably digital, a notebook, and a t-shirt for special projects this year.
  • Estimated Student Supplies cost: $5-10 per month in film processing fees
  • Monthly Tuition: $24
  • Class Supply Fee: $25 for supplies, mats, canvas, and transfer papers. 
  • A well-rounded hands on experience will be given in learning the camera compostion, contents, lighting, and presentation.  We will have three projects due throughout the course of the year with a final presentation for the Evening of the Arts.

Teen Photography - Mrs. Cowen

  • Ages 13 & up
  • Min. # of Students: 8 - Max. # of Students 12
  • Student will need: a camera preferably digital, a notebook, and a t-shirt for special projects this year. 
  • Estimated Student Supplies cost: $5-10 per month in film processing fees
  • Monthly Tuition: $24
  • Class Supply Fee: $25 for supplies, mats, canvas, and transfer papers. 
  • A well-rounded hands on experience will be given in learning the camera compostion, contents, lighting, and presentation.  We will have three projects due throughout the course of the year with a final presentation for the Everning of the Arts.
