Spanish Songs, Stories, and Games - Mrs. Holmberg The 9:00 class is full, but the 2:00 class has room.

  • Ages: 3-7
  • Min. # of Students: 3 - Max. # of Students: 10
  • Student Supply Fee: $5
  • Tuition: $16 per month
  • Enjoy hearing stories, playing games, and singing songs in Spanish as an introduction to the language at a very basic level. The emphasis will be on having fun while learning. Bilingual mini-books will be sent home weekly.  Repeating students are welcome as we will be learning some new songs, stories, Bible verses, and games this year.  Parents are always welcome and may be required for younger students. Please note that this is a 50 minute class.

Spanish Foundations - Mrs. DeSmet Class Full

  • Ages: 7 - 10
  • Min. # of Students: 4 - Max. # of Students: 10
  • Student Supply Fee: Students will be required to purchase a Spanish workbook. 
  • Tuition: $20 per month
  • Class Supply Fee: Small fee for copies 
  • Equipment Student to Provide: 1 workbook assigned by teacher, notebook, pencil.
  • This will be a full immersion Spanish course which will introduce students to pronunciation, words, and phrases.  Classes will be theme based such as colors, alphabet, body parts, foods, and clothing.  These items will be taught through interactive games, songs, dramas, and exercises.  There will be 2 main sections of the course: 1) The Basics -where students will learn the building blocks of Spanish. 2) Articles, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and more -expands the basics focusing on verb conjunction, the use of adjectives and prepostitions.  At the end of the class, students will have a strong vocabulary, be able to participate in simple conversations, and read simple books.  Students who have had one year study of Spanish or no experience are welcome in this class.  Due to the immersion style, skills for this class are not directly correlated to traditional language classes.  Spanish books and flash cards will be available for the students to take home for practice. 

Spanish Immersion -Mrs. DeSmet

  • Ages: 8 - 11 
  • Min. # of Students: 4 - Max. # of Students: 10
  • Student Supply Fee: Students will be required to purchase a Spanish workbook.

  • Tuition: $20 per month
  • Class Supply Fee: Small fee for copies 
  • This will be a continuation of Spanish Foundations.  This will be a full immersion Spanish course which will extend students' knowledge of pronunciation, words, and phrases.  These items will be taught through interactive games, songs, dramas and exercises.  There will be three main sections of the course: 1) Introduction to Prepositions -students will learn how to use common prepositions.  2) Adverb and Adjectives - expand knowledge and use of adverbs and adjectives and make comparisons.  3) Demonstrative Pronouns -students will learn how to use demonstrative pronouns.  At the end of the class, students will be able to speak and write sentences, participate in conversations, and read books.  Spanish books and flash cards will be available weekly for the students to take home for practice.  Students who have studied this language for 2 (minimum) or 3 years and can carry on a limited conversation in Spanish are welcome in this class.  Please contact the teacher for a telephone interview if you would like to ensure placement in the class.  Students who do not have sufficient skill will be asked to join the Spanish Foundations immerssion class if availability and schedule permits.

 Introduction to Japanese - Masumi Sasajima

  • Ages: 7 - 16
  • Minimum # of Students: 3 - Max. # of Students: 8
  • Class Supply fee: $20
  • Tuition: $20 per month
  •  Everything Japan!  This class is the introduction of Japanese culture and language.  The students will learn very basic Japanese language through hearing Japanese traditional stories, playing games, and singing songs.  We also will enjoy playing many seasonal activities, making origami, Japanese calligraphy, and much more.
