- Class fee: $10 per 15 minute lesson, $20 per 30 minute lesson, $30 per 45 minute lesson
- Supply fees will vary: $10 for students ages 4-8 and receiving a box, foot chart and binder. Children 9 and up will need to pay $4 for a binder and practice charts. Once playing a violin students will need the Suzuki Book 1 and CD, metronome, tuner, and stand for older children. See more information below.
Most people believe the violin is a very difficult instrument to play and are amazed to see young children playing it so well. It is an interesting story how it all started. Dr. Shinichi Suzuki was studying violin in Germany and struggling to learn German when he realized that young children, that were immersed in their native language, had no trouble fluently speaking. At this point he wondered if a pre-schooler could learn to play the violin, if they were in a nurturing environment, encouraged and given small steps. So he began teaching violin and found a remarkable observation...any child can learn to play the violin! My goal as a Suzuki teacher is not to make child prodigies, but to create high level students with a beautiful heart.
At the G.I.F.T. program, I would offer 15, 30, or 45 minute weekly private lessons. Children, ages 4-8, start out with a violin box at the lesson. The parents will be expected to take notes and practice at home with the child daily. After several lessons and establishing good posture, the child will graduate to a real violin. If a child begins at age 9 or up, they will start on a real violin and the parent will still be expected to take notes at the lessons. Also, if possible, a 30 minute weekly group lesson is a great addition to the learning process. Group classes allow students to play their instruments together, be motivated by each other, do fun activities and develop life long friendships.
I look forward to working with your children.
